Winter Aspens

Winter blankets the landscape in the Wasatch Mountains along with a stand of aspens. Quaking aspens are this continent’s most widely distributed tree, and are one of its most colorful. Aspens are the world’s most massive individual organism, and also the oldest. Aspens reproduce through suckering — the process whereby an individual aspen stem sprouts new stems, but belongs to a single aspen, giving the trees ability to reach enormous dimensions and longevity.
